What to expect in an audition: step-by-step walkthrough of check-in, slate, etiquette, and common audition formats so you arrive calm and prepared.
Deep dive into song selection: choosing the right cut, key, tempo, and style for your voice and the role; how to prepare a 16–32 bar cut and create a quick, compelling musical snapshot.
Monologue reading & cold reading: choosing and preparing effective monologues; techniques for cold reads, beat changes, strong choices, and staying present under pressure.
Choreography expectations & practice: basic movement terminology, learning a short combo, following a choreographer’s direction, and tips for showing your best movement even if dance isn’t your strongest suit.
Community theatre: The Coles Notes: understanding callbacks, ensemble expectations, rehearsal etiquette, volunteer opportunities, and how to be a collaborative castmate.
Every participant will get a chance to PERFORM & get FEEDBACK: individual on-the-spot coaching focused on strengths and practical next steps for improvement.
