TESTIMONIALS

“St. James Players will always hold a special place in my heart. It was more than just a theatre group; it was a vibrant community that nurtured my love for the arts and inspired me to chase my dreams. After performing in my very first show with St. James Players, I knew acting was my calling. Nearly 20 years later, I’m proud to be a leader in Canadian film and TV, a two-time Spirit Award winner, and a lead actor in an Oscar-winning film, all thanks to the foundation I built there. The creativity, support, and sense of belonging I gained from this community continue to guide and inspire me today."

“The St. James Players have become a huge part of my life over the eight years I’ve been involved with them. The community that their organization cultivates helped me in immense ways. From meeting some of my closest friends, whom I will cherish for life, to discovering that I wanted to pursue a post-secondary education in musical theatre. Being part of the St. James Players has been incredibly beneficial for my anxiety, as it provided a safe space for me to become someone else while still expressing my true self. I have gained a great deal of experience from the St. James Players, both on and off-stage. I even received the Lieutenant Governor's award and bursary at my high school graduation for the most community involvement hours, with most of them being from the Players. Some of my fondest memories and experiences were formed with the St. James Players, and I will remain a part of their community forever.”

~Miriam Clysdale- Long-time Player & Volunteer

“My son Nolan always struggled to get himself involved in activities. He was shy and socially had difficulty in groups, and he rarely put himself out there. Nolan volunteered at age 10 to help with “Anne of Green Gables,” which sparked his passion for working backstage. Since then, he has made props and worked on every show. While most kids have posters of bands or sports trophies in their rooms, Nolan’s room is decorated solely with cast-signed posters and thank you cards from the last five shows. Thanks to this incredible organization, Nolan has gained confidence and is a completely changed child. He has improved socially and academically and now has the confidence to play football. The St James Players is a place not only for kids who want to shine on stage but also for those who want to be involved behind the scenes.”
